Second Generation West Auckland hihi?

 alt="Second Generation West Auckland hihi?"
 width="128"
 height="85" />

Eric Wilson: "I took some photos of what I thought at the time was an unbanded adult female hihi. On closer examination on the computer at home I realise it must be a juvenile, with yellow markings around the beak and lack of mottled feathers on chest and abdomen. There was another bird nearby which was also likely to be a juvenile. If their mother was the unbanded female, this would make the juveniles the first second generation birds born in the Ark!"

Laurence Béchet had great difficulty with this photograph, as the chicks kept coming towards her to be fed!
