Hi Folks,
An urgent call from the Friends of Arataki chairwoman Yvonne Pivac:-
We have lost our treasurer and as yet no one has come forward to take the position. We had to adjourn our AGM until we can get some nominations. Could you please forward this to your members to see if any of them could help us out. The treasurer position is not that time consuming in our group, meetings are once a month and finance report presented. That normally consists of membership that has come in. Out-goings are few, and most are designated funds for projects. Our books have been audited for 2009, so all is up to date. Hope someone can help.
Cheers Yvonne Pivac
P.S. the Friends help us out with funds for our Sat sausage sizzle and maintain an interest in all the ARK activities
There are two important functions at the weekend in place of our usual ARK volunteer day
1. Sat 27th and Sun 28th. An open Arts Weekend at Tony Lawson's place 110 Te Henga Rd opposite the Ostrich farm.
Live music, numerous local artists and craft work.
Andy Warneford will set up an ARK display on friday for both Days
Can someone help Andy on either the Sat or Sun ? email... andywarneford@orcon.net.nz
2. Sunday 28th: Treasure hunt for 6-12yr olds at the Cascades from 11am to 2pm
The treasure these children will be looking for wont be in the form of a chest of gold, instead they will be hunting out the hidden treasures Cascade/Kauri has to offer along the Auckland City walk, with prize bags handed out as they complete the hunt by Agent Ani.
There are approximately 200 prize bags for the treasure hunt, and the idea is to have a family day out ,with the treasure hunt as the highlight
Rhiannon and Tony will cook sausages and Val Lyon will assist and take donations for the ARK.
The Tui car will be part of our display
Can you help to direct children on the Auckland City walk or with setting up?
*We need volunteer/s to help me set up at 9am
*Volunteers to be stationed at set points along the Auckland City Walk from 11am -12.30pm
*and from 12.30pm to 2pm
The points are obvious places like the big bridge or the large Kauri or T17 to show children the robin there. I can provide a map and instructions or show you the site on the morning if you come at 10am
Children will try to answer questions often by reading one of the signs nearby.
Please let me know if you can help out
Karen
