Next Day: Sunday 9th, 9.30am

Hi Folks,

The Next Day is Sun 9th meeting at the rangers station at 9.30am. We plan to drive up Long Rd this Sunday to continue L Block and some of U Block. Let me know if you can come.

We are making great progress and you can see this by visiting our website www.arkinthepark.org.nz and looking at 'maps and graphs' and baiting progress. Whilst there have a look under 'news' for a photo of Vincent and a yellow admiral butterfly

Sausage Sizzler Wanted once a month 11am to 1pm

Adnan is now back in action on our baitlines!

So we are looking for someone to do sausage cooking every first Sat of the month and I'm sure one of the other cookers will be happy to show you what to do. All the sausages and condiments plus BBQ are there. You bring bread and milk on the day and charge the ARK.

Kohekohe Hunt:

Look out for a kohekohe tree (Dysoxylum spectabile). The wood is not good for much, but it has spectacular flowers.

It is making a big comeback in the Waitakeres after being decimated by posssums.

It flowers from now into early winter and also produces fruit, thus offering good food for birds at a time of the year when other plants are not fruiting.

The chocolate fish award goes to the first person who photographs a flowering tree in the ARK

Leaves are like the puriri tree although bigger and more lush. The white flowers grow in clusters directly from the stem.
