Next Day: Sunday 27th June

The next day is Sun 27th meeting at the rangers station at 9.30am.

Fantastic progress thanks everybody with baiting with only the odd line to be done now

And now for something different!

Clearing woolly nightshade in Ld and beyond. We will be crossing the Waitakere Stream andwalking along the Whatitiri track to get there

Bring handsaws or other means for cutting the soft stems and then we will apply vigilant gel. We do need a dryish day so if there is likely to be a lot of rain we might have to cancel.

We have plenty of gloves at present

Rabbit meat

Louis has cut up the last of our rabbit meat and it is in the tall freezer in the rangers workshop whilst the concreting is being done.

We need more rabbits to go in the other freezers in the workshop ASAP

Kokako report

From Kay Milton:

Great news from the 22nd June. We saw Moby and Punga near the top end of the golf course along baitline AN 14. We were getting weird signals all the way up. When we got to AN 15, we followed the orange and blue trail until we reached AN14 and took readings from there, but the signals were strong all round with no fade points. Then we heard the birds calling softly (tok, tok calls and a soft mew). So we turned left, in the direction of the sounds, and walked up AN14 for about 50 metres, where we saw them (at 10.00), feeding busily and definitely together. They moved a little to about 30m NE of the baitline, but still in view. They were there when we left them at about 10.10.
