Next Day: Stoaters morning 9am Saturday 21st

Good morning,

Want to keep fit by walking tracks in your own time at your own pace, once or twice a month plus do something positive for conservation?

There will be a meeting for all stoaters and interested new people 9am at the rangers station on Sat 21st.  Come along and see how it's done!

Here is a chance for new people to join our Trapping Team and for existing trappers to upgrade and refine their skills in catching these destructive predators.  (one stoat can kill 80 native birds in a month).  We now have almost exclusively DoC 200 traps in our area which are easy to set (special setting tools available).

Stoats, Ferrets, rats and weasels are important predators and our 'stoat team' now numbers  well over 60 people.  Most of our loop trails take about 2hrs with a chance these days to see or hear an endangered bird species.

The first half of the morning will be spent at the Rangers Station with trap tuition. The second half, may allow interested new stoaters, to go out with an existing stoater.
