Happy New Year! The first volunteer weekend for 2012 is this Saturday 7th meeting at the ranger’s station at 9am
We will revisit the ginger on Line L3 -
Entry is from the Whatitiri Track, walking 200m in through mainly open bush.
Please bring trowels, gardening gloves, spades and I suggest you wear gumboots for crossing the Waitakere stream
The weather looks to be improving so hopefully we will keep our feet dry.
Last year we made a big impact on the ginger invading the bush on this line and a second go should really do the business.
**Advance call for our first Rat monitoring of 2012 Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th
We hope for a relatively dry Sat night. The lines are easier than rat baiting lines and it is possible to do a couple of short ones and still be back by midday.
Please let Jane know if you can come on one or both days for rat monitoring (and which line you would like to do if you have any preference)
If you haven't been rat monitoring before, please come on the Sat at 9am for a demo and then go out with someone experienced.
